When we start to tell a story in the Catalan tradition, we say: “Heus aquí
una vegada…” Once upon a time there was a place where people and nature
worked together. There was a land where the Greeks planted seeds (“llavors”
in our language) of a long history. There were the soils (“sòls” in Catalan)
from which the vines and olive trees grew. Here, tradition and the search
for authenticity go hand in hand. This is how, with spirit and enthusiasm,
the image takes colour and breaks through the darkness. Quite simply, this
is *lavinyeta. The end.
A story between tradition and modernity
In 2002 La Vinyeta is borned in Mollet de Peralada. A new project starts with only two old vineyards of Grenache and Carignan. Jordi, the previous owner, always participant from the beginning, provided us his experience and knowledge like the art of pruning and the tenacious work of the land. Then…(which is llavors in our culture) the vineyards were planted, until we reached the current 30 hectares, and the winery was built. From 2006 La Vinyeta gave fruits year after year with personal wines, delicious olive oil and products of the land. Despite of being a young winery, La Vinyeta does not start from scratch. As if it was a relay race it has received the tradition testimony. The accumulated bequest during centuries for the cultivation of old vineyards and the elaboration of wines in the Empordà are the reference.
