Once again, La Vinyeta and the designer Lluís Serra are represented in the prestigious Laus awards of graphic design. The wine Llavors won a Gold Laus Award two years ago in the category of packaging, and this year La Vinyeta’s eggs —called Outòcton— has been selected in two categories, logo and naming. The jury’s final verdict will be announced in June during the awards ceremony, Night Laus.

Puntiapart* is ready

The wine Punt i apart 09 has been presented in the Forum Gastronòmic after a deserved rest in the barrels of the winery. It has been thirteen months of peace in the privacy of La Vinyeta. The wine Punt i apart 09 points higher. It is the result of a long journey. This wine is deep, penetrating minerality that gives tablespoons are the contribution of old vines. Elegant at nose, warm and balmy shown above the aromas of ripe fruit. Powerful input at rest transmit peace and serenity. Weight in the mouth is central, with melted tannins thanks to the successful integration of the wood.

Useful tools such as Google Maps or Google Street are now complemented with Google Earth. This software, similar to a geographical informative system that allows you to visualize images in 3D from any spot of the planet. It combines satellite images, maps, as though Google technology. It is another tool that can be useful anytime you would like to arrange a visit to the winery.

As any other tale, Heus is the beginning; it is the starting point where great number of stories comes up. From the illustrator’s hand Marta Altés, this serial of three stories bring into life the youngest wines of La Vinyeta, the Heus, with a fresh and easy going language. Moreover, she also creates the illustrations for the Punt i apart wine labelling.

Marta Altés studied at Eina School of Art & Design where, once she was graduated in Graphic Design; se specialized herself doing a MA of Creative Illustration. Llavors* wine got the Laus award for its labelling

On the past edition of the Laus 09 award Lluís Serra Pla and La Vinyeta got the prestigious award Golden Laus for the labelling of the Llavors wine, on the category of ‘Packaging and Labelling Design’. This award boosts the image of the winery. Since then, we can find many different articles that refers to our wines in some magazines and graphic design books as the French publication Étapes, magazines as On Diseño and Chois Gallery, books as Wine plus and Pack pack or The die line website.

Lluís Serra Pla, Josep’s brother –enologist and owner of La Vinyeta–, he studied graphic design at Eina School of Art & Design. While he was a student he was awarded with Student Laus Award, subsequently for Fad Incubator. He has worked for different studios as Bis, Summa or 40 Gurús. He currently lives in Alt Empordà where he is doing the graphic image of La Vinyeta apart from his own projects. For further information please click here.

On October 1st 2010 the new edition of the wine guide “Guía Peñín” was launched. On this occasion the red wine Heus Negre 09 got the punctuation of 91 that it establishes as one of the best Spanish wines in quality and price.
Heus Negre 09 has a coupage of red Grenache (50 years old vineyards), Syrah and Carignan. It has cherry coloured with violet tones with high flavour intensity combining sensations of ripe fruit with lactic notes. Meaty in mouth, well-integrated tannins and middle persistence with good final acidity.

Shortly, it will be launch the new harvest of the sweet wine Sols. This new Grenache is a limited edition, due to that it is made from the oldest vineyards of La Vinyeta, more than 80 years old. ¿Do you remember those tickets that we used to buy on the village to get some drinks when we were young? On Friday were turquoise green, on Saturday yellow straw, on Sunday red… So, like those tickets,  Sols labelling changes every year to a new colour. The next harvest, it will be a pale red and no more than a thousand bottles manually enumerated.

New harvest of Llavors* wine

Under the concept of ‘bad date, good harvest’ Llavors wine new harvest is launch, corresponding to the 2009 year. A page from the local newspaper El Punt of Tuesday October 13th –just when the Merlot variety was run off and pressed is used for the bottle labelling of the new wine, that keep on track for the designer Lluís Serra using fragments of newspaper with real articles that have happened –during the wine making process–. On 2008 harvest – Costa Brava’s Century– it was used and article with the ‘El rincón de Portbou’ title where and authentic and wild Costa Brava was vindicate; and the 2007 harvest –that was emphasize for been an extremely hot summer– was a piece of the forecast where was sunny all over the Empordà region.
