Once again, La Vinyeta and the designer Lluís Serra are represented in the prestigious Laus awards of graphic design. The wine Llavors won a Gold Laus Award two years ago in the category of packaging, and this year La Vinyeta’s eggs —called Outòcton— has been selected in two categories, logo and naming. The jury’s final verdict will be announced in June during the awards ceremony, Night Laus.
Otherwise, Outòcton also had their representation in Innofòrum Awards, where it was exhibited in the showcases during this Fòrum Gastronòmic de Girona
On the past edition of the Laus 09 award Lluís Serra Pla and La Vinyeta got the prestigious award Golden Laus for the labelling of the Llavors wine, on the category of ‘Packaging and Labelling Design’. This award boosts the image of the winery. Since then, we can find many different articles that refers to our wines in some magazines and graphic design books as the French publication Étapes, magazines as On Diseño and Chois Gallery, books as Wine plus and Pack pack or The die line website.
Shortly, it will be launch the new harvest of the sweet wine Sols. This new Grenache is a limited edition, due to that it is made from the oldest vineyards of La Vinyeta, more than 80 years old. ¿Do you remember those tickets that we used to buy on the village to get some drinks when we were young? On Friday were turquoise green, on Saturday yellow straw, on Sunday red… So, like those tickets, Sols labelling changes every year to a new colour. The next harvest, it will be a pale red and no more than a thousand bottles manually enumerated.
Under the concept of ‘bad date, good harvest’ Llavors wine new harvest is launch, corresponding to the 2009 year. A page from the local newspaper El Punt of Tuesday October 13th –just when the Merlot variety was run off and pressed is used for the bottle labelling of the new wine, that keep on track for the designer Lluís Serra using fragments of newspaper with real articles that have happened –during the wine making process–. On 2008 harvest – Costa Brava’s Century– it was used and article with the ‘El rincón de Portbou’ title where and authentic and wild Costa Brava was vindicate; and the 2007 harvest –that was emphasize for been an extremely hot summer– was a piece of the forecast where was sunny all over the Empordà region.

Last Sunday October 4th 2009 Josep Serra, enologist and owner of La Vinyeta winery, and his brother Lluís Serra, graphic designer, look for the complicity between different wines and parts of the stories, exploring how sensory experiences and extrasensory experiences are related, inside the program for the second edition of the Fiesta del Grafismo, celebrated in Portbou.
It is at the table. In a romantic dinner with your partner. In a family lunch where the grandfather explains again that anecdote when he was still living in the country house. In an informal business meeting at the bar in the corner at the end of the street. In a full breakfast with knife and fork with that friend that you haven’t seen for a long time. Wine creates an ideal scenario to generate stories. This talk-tasting, was a liven up exchange of tales thanks to the presence of the wine, that make then flow at the same time that are surround by feelings.
